Unit
The Unit will be organized
by lessons and curriculum connections in each grade level, according to
the Fairfax County Program of Studies (2001) and the Virginia State Standards
of Learning (2000).
Discipline Connections:
Art: Various forms of
art, architecture and artifacts will be observed, discussed, and created
by students at each grade level 1-6.
Social Studies: Connections
will be made at each grade level with the specific ethnicities covered
in the curriculum.
Literature: Stories,
poetry, letters, etc. written about and told by each group of people
will be used whenever possible, ideally in every lesson.
